The scene: Spike Mendelsohn of Top Chef stardom, also owns the neighboring Good Stuff Eatery. Due to its famous owner, it can get busy, but the line moves quickly. The nice thing I observed is that after every five pizzas made, the ovens are cleaned. It’s close proximity to Eastern Market, make it a prime spot for lunch or dinner. Unfortunately, they are closed on Sundays. Whether you are dining in or taking it to go, this is a great place to eat on a budget. The food: We, The Pizza features over a dozen crispy pies from the basic to white, Greek and Colletti’s Notorious BBQ topped with pulled pork, BBQ sauce, Cheddar and crispy onions. However, We, The Pizza offers more than just whole pizzas and pie by the slice. There are wings, three types of soup, salads, a large selection of cold and hot subs and a selection of uniquely flavored fruit sodas. There is a disclaimer: menu items may have been exposed to trace amounts of nuts. The kid appeal: While waiting for your pie, kids can see pizza being made and fired in the oven, watch the food network on a flat screen or people watch on Pennsylvania Avenue. The seating upstairs is led by a wall of various sized pizza trays. If the kids are good, treat them with a scoop of homemade gelato. Noise level: moderate. High chairs/boosters: yes. Changing tables: yes. Review by Kathleen Molloy.
