As the oldest and one of the largest national parks, Rock Creek Park has everything a park can offer, from picnicking to hiking to biking. Older kids and adults can also enjoy skating, horseback riding, tennis, and golf. The Nature Center, Planetarium, Old Stone House, and Peirce Mill (grist mill) complement the miles of nature trails. Nature Center and Planetarium An exhibit hall featuring local wildlife, discovery center with hands-on activities, educational programs, and nature trails led by park rangers are ways Rock Creek Nature Center introduces children to the great outdoors. Visit the Nature Center for a close-up look at their resident animals every Friday at 4pm (all ages). Youngsters ages 4 to 8 should take part in Young Planetarium”, an introduction to the night sky held every Wednesday. The Nature Center and Planetarium are open 9am to 5pm Wednesday to Sunday, except Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Day and the Fourth of July.”
