The Noyes Children’s Library Foundation, a registered 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit, was founded in 1991 to provide private funds to help pay operating expenses for the library. Foundation board members include specialists in early childhood, early literacy and reading, community services, fundraising, business, and public relations. The Foundation has no paid employees. The Noyes Children’s Library was founded in 1893 in Kensington, MD. Noyes is the oldest public library in the Washington D.C. area and one of only a handful of public libraries in the U.S. dedicated to children. Now a special branch of Montgomery County Public Libraries, Noyes is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.
