Campers flap and shuffle, pop and lock, fan kick and grapevine, stomp and sway in an exploration of rhythm tap, hip hop, jazz movement and West African dance. The lessons are complemented by workshops, retro dances like the Charleston and the Twist, and percussion instrument experimentation. When campers are not on the dance floor, they might display their fashion savoir faire at a photo shoot and catwalk or embark on a scavenger hunt. Older campers step up to exciting skill games at our own carnival, while face paint transforms our younger campers into animals on parade, entertaining Takoma shoppers and shopkeepers. Everyone goes to Dolci’s for ice cream day! Campers use photos taken throughout dance camp to create take-home memory books.
