The Scene Crave is a frozen yogurt shop with locations in Locations in Alexandria, Fairfax, Herndon, and Vienna. The Alexandria location is inside the Bradlee Shopping Center. I’ve been to a fair amount of fro yo places so I wasn’t expecting much. From the Adirondack chairs outside to the cozy interior, I was impressed. The Food What sets Crave apart from the competition is that they offer 15 kinds of frozen yogurt including the new trend, Greek yogurt! Each selection states important information: low fat, non-fat, no-sugar added, dairy free, contains gluten, gluten free, contains peanuts, caffeine, or Splenda. I was disappointed that the popular Wild Strawberry and Chocolate Dipped Strawberry selections were sold out. Samples are allowed and I tried the Sea Salt Caramel Pretzel and Wedding cake. Not a fan of a lot of salt, but the wedding cake was a different flavor than the birthday version. One thing that stood out was that they carry sorbet. While I’m not a fan of mango, I actually found the mango sorbet light and refreshing. The lever on the machines cranks out the frozen yogurt fast so remember this since it cost 49 cents an ounce. The Kid Appeal The kiddo chose the no-sugar added vanilla which contained Splenda. She couldn’t tell the difference in regular vanilla frozen yogurt because it tasted so similar to soft serve ice-cream. The plethora of dry toppings are labeled high on the wall. It’s a good thing that the items are placed high so little ones don’t overindulge. The selection is unreal in a good way. Toppings that stood out were organic animal crackers, Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, Whoppers, Mike & Ikes, Craisins, and waffle cone pieces. Syrups, sprinkles, and fruit such as cranberry, kiwi, and pineapple are counter side. Noise Level Quiet with a few families in attendance and music playing in the background. High Chairs/Boosters They have high chairs and plastic chairs for wee ones. Changing Table Available. Review and photo by Kathleen Molloy.
