Disney on Ice Presents Mickey’s Search Party

By Jamie Davis Smith

Disney on Ice is back with a new show full of favorite stories, old and new.  Mickey’s Search Party tells the story of classics like Rapunzel and Aladdin through more recent favorites including Toy Story, Moana, and Coco.  The show is woven together by a search for clues to find Tinker Bell after Captain Hook tries to capture her magic and progress is monitored through a Magic Meter.

I’ve seen a few Disney on Ice productions in the past and Mickey’s Search Party makes a leap in performances.  This production includes acrobatics and some performers who do not skate, including impressive larger-than-life Dia de los Muertos during the telling of Coco. The Aladdin telling creates an incredible carnival-like atmosphere. There are also plenty of special effects in Mickey’s Search party from “real” snow falling during Frozen to thousands of bubbles floating above the ice during Ariel’s story.

Although there are princesses throughout the show, this production of Disney on Ice is not as focused on Princesses as others.  My sons (10 and 3) enjoyed the show just as much as my daughters (8 and 12). Another Mom told me that Mickey’s Search Party was her 10 year old son’s first Disney on Ice and he loved it.

Disney on Ice is a truly magical experience every child should experience and Mickey’s Search Party is sure to have at least one of your child’s favorite stories.  Spending time with beloved Disney characters, old and new, is a great way to make memories.
