American Girl Live: Fans of American Girl won’t want to miss this first-of-its kind opportunity to see their favorite girls come to life. Heading to Strathmore for one day only, American Girl Live will explore how girls from different eras (Rebecca, Maryellen, Julie, Nanea, Luciana, and Melody) would tackle the problems faced by a group of young girls at sleepaway camp. Big Apple Circus: The circus is coming the National Harbor! The Big Apple Circus sets up its big top from through March 24th.  This circus does not feature any exotic animals but you will see plenty of clowns, acrobatic feats, jugglers and more!

Dickens’s Davy Copperfield: See Dickens’s classic story brought to life in a new adaptation for stage written just for younger audiences. Imagination Stage  brings Davy Copperfield to life in a heartwarming way that shows the power of books to help get through tough times and open the doors to a bigger world while showing the power of friendship and finding a true home. Marvel Universe Live: Avengers assemble for this live, legendary battle to defend the universe from evil. The Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy and Spider-Man join forces with Doctor Strange, master of the mystic arts, in a race against time to recover the Wand of Watoomb before it falls into Loki’s hands in this all-new, spectacular arena production. Marvel Universe LIVE! is performing at EagleBank Arena from March 22nd – March 31st.

Star Lord, Gamora, Rocket, Groot and Drax make their live show debut bringing their courage and misfit wit to Marvel Universe LIVE! Alongside Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Black Panther, Hulk, Black Widow, Wasp and Iron Fist, the Guardians of the Galaxy help fight the scheming, menacing and loathsome villains Loki, Yondu and Green Goblin. Audiences will join in the quest that sparks new feuds with old foes, pitting student against mentor, sister against sister and brother against brother.

Witness cutting-edge special effects, aerial maneuvers, pyrotechnics, martial arts, motorcycles stunts and vast video projection in this completely new thrilling adventure. Fans of all ages will be immersed in the Marvel universe and experience it all with their family…LIVE!

Finding Neverland: The story of Peter Pan is well known. The story of how Peter Pan came to be is less well-known, but just as compelling. The breathtaking story of Peter Pan’s author, and the family that inspired it all, is at the National Theatre through March 3rd only. Read our full review here.

Blossom Kite Festival: Every DC area kid should experience the Blossom Kite Festival at least once. This year’s festival is scheduled for March 30th. Bring your own kite or make one on-site at the National Mall while supplies last. Hope for wind and watch professionals and novices alike showcase their skill through a variety of competitions and demonstrations, Rokkaku Battles, and the Hot Tricks Showdown. This is just one of many events scheduled as part of the annual Cherry Blossom Festival, scheduled to being March 23rd.

Shakespeare Theatre Company Family Week 2019:  To be or not to be?  The answer is that you should be at the STC Family Week 2019.  This year’s festival features shortened, simplified versions of the Great Bard’s plays as well as daily FREE activities and performances for families.  Check out the full schedule here.

from 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.  Sitting down together as a family to share a meal is so important. To help families come together, American Girl is pleased to support The Family Dinner Project at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, which promotes healthy connections through food, fun, and conversations about things that matter. Inspired by our newest Girl of the Year, Blaire Wilson, we invite you to enjoy a no-tech evening of food, fun, and conversation. You’ll have time to connect with your loved ones and dine on farm-to-table recipes inspired by Blaire’s stories. This event also includes a “create your own appetizer station”, family-style desserts, and a special goody bag with an American Girl picture frame and resources to support family dinners at home.
